Andy Wirth’s Standard for Living Lifts Many Ski-Goers

President and CEO Andy Wirth of Squaw Valley Ski Resort is considered an inspiring-champion, although more than likely he would stay humble and brush that description off as non-sense.

After a near fatal skydiving accident in October 2013, Mr. Wirth spent 50 days in the hospital and underwent 23 surgeries on his right arm, which became detached from his body due to landing on steel posts and wires in a vineyard outside the designated landing area. Mr. Wirths’ immediate action to slow the bleeding upon the initial accident was proven to have saved his life.

Since his accident Mr. Wirth has remained positive, and he continues to live by a standard of passion for life, and for staying in the moment. Mr. Wirth believes in remaining omnipresent with what he calls a “deep current gratitude” for today and everything that is happening at the moment. Mr. Wirths’ passion for living is what has continued to build him into the type of person that many truly aspire to be. He has also received numerous community service and professional awards.

Earlier this year, Mr. Wirth was elected as Board Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation (RASC). The board is comprised of regional hotel-casino properties and tourism within North Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe and Reno. The role of the RASC is to promote air service into Reno-Tahoe International Airport and determining new opportunities for added flights. Mr. Wirth stated, “I am honored to serve in this role… Air service into our region is and will continue to be one of the central elements of our growing and thriving economy”.

Mr. Wirth has worked within the mountain and resort industry for 25 years. In August 2010, he was appointed as the President and CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Resort.

Squaw Valley Ski Resort is an internationally renowned mountain resort in North Lake Tahoe. The resort spans over 6,000 skiable acres, featuring outstanding slope-side lodging year round with non-stop events and nearly 60 bars, restaurants and boutiques. In 2016, it was voted as Best Ski Resort in North America by USA Today.
